Sumanth Swaminathan, PHD

I made the fortunate decision to seek Joe’s counseling during a volatile episode with my ex-wife. Joe counseled me in real time for several weeks on everything from 1) How to (or not to) respond to aggressive text messages/emails, 2) When/where to seek legal help, 3) Which friends and family could help the most, 4) And what my ex was likely and/or capable of doing given the circumstance. If it weren’t for him, I can say with absolute certainty that the outcome of my divorce would have been significantly worse.

Joe has a rare combination of kindness, authenticity, and strategic acumen.

He was a uniquely effective counselor and friend when I needed him the most. He has objective experience/knowledge in handling complex personal situations, but equally important, he has empathy for those that he councils. He feels our pain, and he anticipates our emotional response. I’m a person who has displayed life-long success in many aspects of life (academically, professionally, and personally), but no matter how talented/accomplished a person is, situations of great personal/emotional trauma will invariably compromise peoples’ judgment. Moreover, highly emotional and toxic personal situations often lead to the least rational behaviors and the worst intentions. Having someone who understands personal trauma, complex domestic disputes, emotionally charged interactions, and of course, how to successfully arrive at a successful outcome is truly invaluable. I’m very grateful to have had Joe guarding my back when I needed him.
